When a new dining destination opens in Christchurch, excitement is guaranteed — but Manu is something truly special. Founded by Karen Hattaway (Ngāi Tahu/Ngāti Kuri), Manu is more than a restaurant and bar; it’s a vibrant celebration of culture, diversity, and hospitality.
“Manu” — the Māori word for feathered creature or bird — inspires every detail of the space. Just like the rich colours of feathers, the restaurant embodies beauty, diversity, and cultural connection. With jewel-toned interiors, bold artwork, and a menu that honours Pasifika, Māori, and Asian influences, Manu offers an atmosphere that is glamorous, welcoming, and deeply rooted in cultural pride.

Gold-Foiled Business Cards – elegant, tactile, and designed to reflect Manu’s strong identity and premium positioning.
Dinner Menus, Drink Menus & Bill Folds – blending clarity with cultural depth. Each was produced with premium covers and textured paper stock inspired by tapa cloth, a traditional barkcloth found across the Pacific. While tapa itself wasn’t practical to use, the richly textured material we sourced beautifully captured its tactile essence, adding authenticity and warmth to the dining experience.
Custom Drink Caps – a stylish yet practical touch, designed to protect drinks and enhance guest safety, ensuring peace of mind while enjoying the evening.
